Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day! Three separate classes

Saturday June 18th

First Class 9am – 12:30pm             

Second Class 2pm – 5:30pm

Saturday June 25th

9am – 11:30am

•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves

We have an awesome opportunity for 10 people per class to join us for a day of beekeeping!

As the blackberry flow continues, we need to assess honey situation and crowding.  In addition, we will be looking at mite counts as well as adding pollen traps.  Come get the experience you need to make the most of your honeybees.

The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE.  The class will be taught by Danny Najera. 

For the morning session on the 18th we will meet at Bees in the ‘Burbs.  28634 Maple Valley Black Diamond Rd. SE, Maple Valley, WA 98038.

For the afternoon session on the 18th we will meet at the Mt Si Nursery in North Bend.  42328 SE 108th St., North Bend WA  98042

For the class on the 25th we will meet at Mary Olson Farm in Kent.  28666-28698 Green River Rd, Kent WA 98030

 You will need to bring the following:

•Snacks/drinks
•Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves The class is non-refundable due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up very fast.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL!  We have Suits available at our store.

You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes. We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,

About Danny.  A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River Community College. Danny is on the board of trustees for the Puget Sound Keepers Association and is married with two kids.
