Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!  April 26th 2 separate sessions. First Session: 10am-Noon. Second Session 1pm-3pm.
We have an awesome opportunity for 16 people to join us for a day of beekeeping!
Many beginning beekeepers spend a lot of time with their bees, bur rarely get to see a great variety of colonies.  During this session we will visit three different colonies and focus on how to assess and manage a colony quickly.  With many colonies, this will provide robust learning opportunities.
We will have two sessions that will both focus on swarm management and increasing colony sizes.  We will try to do as few splits as possible this time around, but of course we must react to the bees.  In addition, we will focused more on doing sugar rolls for mite detection.  Hive inspection sheets will be at the heart of what we do.
The cost of this class will be $50 per session.
We will meet at the store (28634 Maple Valley Black Diamond Rd SE, Black Diamond WA 98035, check in time for the first group will be 9:30 and 12:30 for the second group.  You will need to bring the following:
  • Lunch/drinks
  • Bee Suit
  • Hive Tool
  • Bee Brush
You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.
We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,
We only have room for 8 people per sessions, so if you’d like to join us please stop by the store a soon as possible to sign up.
