Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!
Three separate classes are available
- Saturday, August 21st 9am – 11:30am Mt. Si Nursery North Bend
- Saturday, August 21st 12:30-3:00pm Kent (meet at the gate on the corner of 64th Ave S and S 226th St).
- Sunday, August 22nd 12pm-3:30pm Green Water (meet either at the store at 11:15 or Green Water at 11:45 to be let in the gate) Take hwy 410 East about 18 miles from our store turn right after mile marker 32 and there will be a yellow gate.
- REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil), Gloves
We have an awesome opportunity for 10 people (per class) to join us for a day of beekeeping!
Summer mite treatments and pulling honey!
Summer mite treatments and pulling honey. Come join us to learn how to make sure your colonies are healthy. At this time of the year we will start thinking about overwintering and getting the bees ready for fall. We will highlight the oxalic acid treatment if you need experience with it.
The cost of this class will be $55 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast. This class will be taught by Danny Najera.
You will need to bring the following:
•Lunch/drinks
•Bee Suit
•Hive Tool
•Bee Brush
You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.
We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL! We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River College.
