Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!
Saturday, September 28th 9am – 11:30am Mt. Si Nursery – North Bend AND
Saturday, September 28th 1:30 – 4:00pm Green Water (meet either at the store at 12:30 or Green Water at 1:15 to be let in the gate) Take hwy 410 East about 18 miles from our store turn right after mile marker 32 and there will be a yellow gate.
•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves
We have an awesome opportunity for 10 people (per class) to join us for a day of beekeeping!
Final winterizing class. With the honey supers removed, we will make sure to put the overwintering hive into the proper configuration. The ultimate goal is to set the bees up so they can be left alone until February or March with only minor checking in on the bees. Any queenless or weak hives will be combined as necessary and mite checks will be performed by sugar shakes. Time to put the bees into winter mode!
The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast. This class will be taught by Danny Najera.

We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL! We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River Community College.
