Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!

 April 30th 9am – 11:30am Mt. Si Nursery – North Bend AND

 April 30th 12:30 – 3:00pm Bees in the “Burbs & Rockridge Orchards – Enumclaw

•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves

Spring is in full swing. Come learn how to manage the early spring to minimize swarming and maximize build up for the honey flows. We will be equalizing hives across the apiary and restocking some that need more bees. We will perform mite checks and check on overall colony health as well, a great time to practice both.

The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast.  This class will be taught by Danny Najera.

You will need to bring the following:
•Lunch/drinks
•Bee Suit
•Hive Tool
•Bee Brush

You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.

We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL!  We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River Community College. Danny is on the board of trustees for the Puget Sound Keepers Association.
