Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!
Sunday, May 10th 9am – 11:30am Kent (meet at the gate on the corner of 64th ave S and S 226th St). AND
Sunday, May 10th 1:00 – 3:30pm Green Water (meet either at the store at 12:30 or Green Water at 12:45 to be let in the gate) Take hwy 410 East about 18 miles from our store turn right after mile marker 32 and there will be a yellow gate.
•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil), Gloves & FACEMASK
We have an awesome opportunity for 10 people (per class) to join us for a day of beekeeping!
Spring Build-Up Class!
This class is devoted to recognizing where your colony is at this point in the year. In Spring, the colonies should be building up. As they begin to build up, you will need to develop your own specific strategy for swarming. In addition, we will start developing a strategy to combat mites!
The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast. This class will be taught by Danny Najera.

You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.
We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL! We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River College.
