Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!

 

 June 11th 8am – 11:00am Mt. Si Nursery – North Bend AND

 June 11th 12:00 – 3:30pm Bees in the “Burbs & Rockridge Orchards – Enumclaw

•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves

The honey flow is coming! Come join is to learn how to make sure your bees have the space they need to keep adding nectar/honey to the hive and to your apiary. We will perform frame rotations, brood frame transfers, and splits as needed. All of this will help decrease the swarming potential so you can keep your bees and honey.

The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast.

  This class will be taught by Danny Najera.

You will need to bring the following:
•Lunch/drinks
•Bee Suit
•Hive Tool
•Bee Brush

You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.

We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL!  We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River Community College. Danny is on the board of trustees for the Puget Sound Keepers Association.
