Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!

Saturday, August 10th 9am – 11:30am Mt. Si Nursery – North Bend AND
Saturday, August 10th 1:30 – 4:00pm Green Water (meet either at the store at 12:30 or Green Water at 1:15 to be let in the gate) Take hwy 410 East about 18 miles from our store turn right after mile marker 32 and there will be a yellow gate.

•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves

We have an awesome opportunity for 10 people (per class) to join us for a day of beekeeping!
It’s time to deal with mites. This class will go over options, teach you how to assess your infection levels, provide treatment options, and how to report your data to help research efforts.

We will also assess who needs supers and overall colony health. If you have never done a sugar shake, you will learn here. If you can’t make the classes, Sunday and Monday are options to have a personal lesson.

The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast. This class will be taught by Danny Najera.

You will need to bring the following:
•Lunch/drinks
•Bee Suit
•Hive Tool
•Bee Brush
You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.
We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL! We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River Community College.
