Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!
Saturday, August 1st 10am – 2:00 pm at Green Water (meet either at the store at 9:30am or Green Water at 9:45am to be let in the gate) Take hwy 410 East about 18 miles from our store turn right after mile marker 32 and there will be a yellow gate. OR
Sunday, August 2nd 9am – 12:00pm Mt. Si Nursery in North Bend OR
Sunday, August 2nd 1:30 – 4:30pm Kent (meet at the gate on the corner of 64th Ave S and S 226th St).
- REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil), Gloves & FACEMASK, we have masks for those who need one.
We have an awesome opportunity for 10 people (per class) to join us for a day of beekeeping!
It’s time to take care of your mites. Not sure what to do? We will cover everything you need to know in this class. We will assess the mites, talk about treatments and describe our strategy this year. While swarm season is winding down, we will make sure to minimize the swarm potential here and get your honeybees capping the honey. As a bonus, we will also be conducting research during this class. This will be an exciting day for sure.
The cost of this class will be $55 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast. This class will be taught by Danny Najera.
You will need to bring the following:
•Lunch/drinks
•Bee Suit
•Hive Tool
•Bee Brush
You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.
We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,
PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL! We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River College.
