Beekeeping 401: Beekeeper for a day!

October 22nd 8am – 11:00am Mt. Si Nursery – North Bend AND

 October 22nd 12:00 – 3:00pm Bees in the “Burbs & Rockridge Orchards – Enumclaw

•REQUIRED: Bee Suit (Full Coverall with Veil) & Gloves

Winterizing: The time is coming to set your bees up for the winter. This means knowing how much honey they have and how much they need. We will discuss colony organization and how to reorganize a variety of colonies. This also means making sure they are clean of mites, so get ready for another round of mite checking. Come learn how to improve your overwintering success. 

The cost of this class will be $50 per session and is NON-REFUNDABLE due to the fact that it is a small class & fills up fast.

  This class will be taught by Danny Najera.

You will need to bring the following:
•Lunch/drinks
•Bee Suit
•Hive Tool
•Bee Brush

You may also be required to lift heavy bee boxes.

We will provide the rest of the tools that are needed, smokers etc,

PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS WITHOUT A FULL COVERALL WITH A VEIL!  We have Suits available at our store.

About Danny. A Kent-Meridian graduate, and Oklahoma native, Danny Najera earned his Bachelors and PhD from the University of Kansas and considers himself a scientist (Entomologist and Ecologist) and a teacher. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including the University of Kansas, and is currently instructing at Green River Community College. Danny is on the board of trustees for the Puget Sound Keepers Association.
